Fair Play and Privacy in Private Game Rooms
A practical guide from CaveoAI Gameverse. Advice is designed for casual browser play and does not replace professional advice or device-specific accessibility settings.
A room code is an invitation
Private room codes help friends meet in the same game, but anyone who receives the code may try to join while the room is open. Share the code only with the intended opponent. Do not post a live code publicly if you want a private match. The site may reject a join if the room already has two players or has already started.
Keep the competition friendly
A casual game is more fun when everyone understands the rules. Read whose turn it is, wait for the opponent’s move, and use a rematch button only when both people are ready. Do not use scripts or automation to flood the database or disrupt another player’s session. If a move appears incorrect, restart the round rather than attempting to interfere with someone else’s account.
Protect personal information
Do not use your full legal name, birth date, phone number, exact location, school name, or other private identifiers as a player name. Never give your password to an opponent or claim that you need their password to let them into a room. Sign-in happens through the website’s Firebase authentication screen; account passwords are not needed for ordinary gameplay sharing.
Understanding what is stored
Online room play requires a service to synchronise the room code, player IDs, display names, selected game, turn, and board state. This starter uses Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. The privacy policy explains this data processing. Room data may be retained until the site owner deletes it or configures an expiry process, so the owner should maintain the database and publish a cleanup policy.
Online game state and fair ranking
This starter is intended for friendly matches, not tournaments with valuable prizes. Browser clients submit moves to a shared database, which makes live play easy to deploy but does not provide strong anti-cheat guarantees by itself. A trusted backend such as a carefully secured server function is needed to validate competitive moves, enforce timing, rate-limit requests, and verify any result that matters outside the casual game.
Report a concern responsibly
If another player shares personal information, a room is being disrupted, or an account appears compromised, leave the room and contact the site owner. Report the game and room code plus a description of the problem. Do not send passwords, authentication codes, payment details, or identity documents as part of a support request.
